Roger Ebert is not just a movie reviewer, he’s one of the finest prose writers of our day.

As evidence, I offer you this line from his review of the remake of “The Longest Yard”.

“There is a sense in which attacking this movie is like kicking a dog for not being better at calculus.”

I mean . . . that’s beautiful.
